Harom Csíkmegyei Népdal (Three Hungarian Folksongs from Csík)

Harom Csíkmegyei Népdal (Three Hungarian Folksongs from Csík)

Description

Three Hungarian Folksongs from Csík was originally written for piano by Hungarian composer, Béla Bartók, and reportedly later arranged for recorder and piano by the composer himself. There is much speculation about when the piece was actually composed. Some put it as late as 1918. Bartók revised and published the three-movement set through Boosey & Hawkes in 1942 after moving to the United States at a time in his life when he was barely making a living by publishing old manuscripts.

The county of Csík was once part of Hungary and its territory is now in the eastern Transylvanian region of Romania.
